Who Am I?

Sarah

Sarah has been happily living with her current housemates for many years. She receives SIL support from a provider that she is happy with but the house she lives in is old and doesn't accommodate for large open spaces where they can mobilise freely in their wheelchairs. Sarah has contacted Adenium Living, the SIL provider and support coordinators to talk about moving into a new purpose-built home.

Jackson

Jackson lives in Robust accommodation due to his behaviours of concern. He lives alone and has grown to enjoy it. Jackson's SIL provider is paying for the vacancy. With help from his Support Coordinator, they talk to Adenium Living to find a vacancy in a single-resident Robust dwelling with a neighbour who also needs to be supported at 1:2.

Louise

Louise is 16 and lives at home with her parents. She has an intellectual disability and needs high levels of support to manage her daily life. She has a few friends at school, who talk about moving out of home to live more independently. Louise and her parents raise it at her next NDIS plan reassessment meeting. By the time she is 18, Louise and her friends have SDA funding and meet with Adenium Living to view one of their newly built Improved Liveability properties.

There are four categories of SDA designed to best support the person living there to be as independent as possible – Improved Liveability, Fully Accessible, High Physical Support and Robust.

Yes, you have the right to choose who you live within an SDA property. This includes selecting your housemates or living alone if preferred. The NDIS will consider existing relationships and support needs when making housing arrangements.
